Who are we?

Team SnowMelt is an undergraduate research team seeking to bring an end to shoveling snow. As part of the Gemstone Program at the University of Maryland, we will gather information, perform lab tests and develop the SnowMelt product over the next four years. At the end of our senior year, SnowMelt will defend our findings at the annual Gemstone Thesis Conference.

Summer is over and the fall semester is now apon us and Team SnowMelt is back in full swing.

At our first meeting of the summer, the team decided to split into subgroups to better distribute the responsiblities of our project. The thesis drafting group will be in charge of preparing for the upcoming junior Colloquia and futher work on drafting the team's Thesis Paper. Another group will continue our literary research and explore other resources in search of new ideas for the lab group put to the test. This leads us to the laboratory group which will be testing the teams ideas and adapting new research into practical applications.

Team SnowMelt has entered the lab! We are beginning the laboratory phase of the research project. Currently we are experimenting with different materials mixed into driveway sealant. Our lab teams are measuring the conductivity of these mixtures in order to find the best possible direction to take the project.
