welcome!

We are Team ANTIDOTE, a senior Gemstone Team at the University of Maryland, College Park. Our mission is to investigate the antiviral and antioxidant properties present in extracts of Phyllanthus niruri, a medicinal plant commonly found throughout South America and Asia. Medicinal plants have the advantage of being rich in bioactive compounds which can act together to combat a particular ailment. Since current treatments of Hepatitis C involve the use of drugs that have an abundance of harmful side effects, we hope that our research findings will lead to improvements in current treatments of Hepatitis C as well as an increased understanding of Phyllanthus niruri.
