OVERVIEW
Team AUDIO is performing a study on deaf individuals attending post-secondary school in order to determine the most effective learning environment.  The team’s target group is deaf students that range from juniors in college to two years past graduation.  AUDIO is currently in the process of submiting surveys to various universities including Gallaudet University, The University of Maryland, Towson University, and the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) to obtain a large sample of deaf students attending mainstream, mainly hearing schools, or specialized deaf schools such as Gallaudet and NTID (a part of RIT).
The team will analyze the survey data and draw conclusions about which type of school seems to better prepare the students to enter the work force with adequate technical and communication skills.
Team AUDIO will also conduct semi-structured interviews with willing survey participants. The interviews will follow a mock job interview format and will test the participants' interpersonal communication skills in a professional setting. We will score the interviews using a pre-established rubric in order to evaluate each student-participant.
