Meet the Team!

We are Team ADEPT, a sophomore team working through the Gemstone Program at the University of Maryland, College Park. Even though we're only undergrads, we're dedicated to applying our creative thinking to improving the lives of physical therapy patients! While advancing the development of electromyography-based physical therapy, we hope to create a device that will encourage patients to become more involved in their recovery process, as well as allow therapists to track the off-site progress of patients more effectively.

A member of the Software Team, Hayes is a computer engineering major who applies his considerable enthusiasm to every task set to him. In his spare time, Hayes enjoys salads and biking.







Eddie is a computer science and mathematics double major. He enjoys running.






After spending too much time with her Gems teammates, Teressa converted from chemical engineering to electrical engineering. In her non-Gemstone time, she can usually be found studying in the Engineering Library, tutoring at the Writing Center, or cooking.







Dan is an electrical engineering major. During his free time, he enjoys playing tennis and watching movies. He also likes to snowboard in the winter.








Emily is an electrical engineering major. She enjoys Shakespeare, coding, and making strange projects with PVC pipes.









Mang is a neurology & physiology and Spanish double major who likes to read, eat, and sleep.







Thomas is a physics and math double major who enjoys working seemingly impossible problems related to quantum mechanics. He also plays violin.






Steven is a computer science and math double major and a member of the software team. He enjoys rock climbing, problem solving and computer games. He is particularly excited about working on the video-game aspect of the project.






Jason is currently in the pursuit of a Bachelor’s of Science degree in mechanical engineering from the A. James Clark School of Engineering. When his responsibilities and finances allow it, Jason enjoys going on adventures and finding interesting places to road trip to.
