Project Milestones
Please check back as our project progresses for previously posted updates of our project.- April 2, 2011: The team successfully defended its thesis at the Annual Gemstone Thesis Conference. A panel of experts in criminology and criminal justice evaluated the thesis and met with the researchers after the presentation for additional feedback. Watch our presentation on YouTube!
- February 28, 2011: The team completed the draft of its thesis. It was submitted to the Gemstone Program and Thesis Conference Discussants for review.
- November 17-19, 2010: Luciana, Sasha, Valentina, and Dr. Wellford (Mentor) attended and presented the team's research at the Annual Conference of the American Society of Criminology in San Francisco, California.
- October 2010: The City of College Park, PEPCO, and Avrio, Inc. successfully installed and turned on CCTV cameras in various locations in Old Town College Park (see map).
- August- December 2010: The Survey team administered post-intervention surveys to residents and non-residents of the Old Town College Park area. The CPTED team continued to evaluate residences for CPTED vulnerability. The Data team continued collecting and coding crime data received from the Prince George's County Police Department.
