Welcome to the Gemstone Honors Program, Class of 2024!

We are so excited to meet you! Here is some important information that you might find helpful!

Honors College Next Steps

Check out the Next Steps page for information on the different living-learning programs (LLPs) and how to preference programs, once admitted into the Honors College. Students should tell the Honors College which LLPs interest them the most by February 17, 2020. Please choose your LLP carefully; transferring to another LLP is not guaranteed.

For more information about the Honors College, visit http://honors.umd.edu.

Please refer to the Admitted Fall Freshman Checklist for more information about dining options, financial aid, transfer credit, and other important enrollment items.

Have Questions about Gemstone or the University of Maryland?

We want to make sure all of your questions are answered. Here are some different ways to connect with us:

Register for Gems Camp 2020: Tuesday, August 25th - Thursday, August 27th!

Gems Camp is a two-night, off-campus orientation program designed to help incoming Gemstone students transition into the University of Maryland and the Gemstone Honors Program prior to the first day of classes. If living on campus, students have the added benefit of moving in early.

Registration for Gems Camp 2020 will open in late May 2020.

For more information and regarding Gems Camp, please visit the Gems Camp page on our website. Check out last year's theme, "Start Your Story!"

Sign up for Summer Orientation!

All University of Maryland students must sign up for an orientation program over the summer. If possible, we suggest registering for an Honors orientation (see dates below), but it is NOT required to do so.

Monday-Tuesday, June 15th-16th
Thursday-Friday, June 25th-26th
Wednesday-Thursday, July 15th-16th

To learn more information and to register for Summer Orientation, visit the orientation website at orientation.umd.edu. REMINDER: Summer orientation is different from Gems Camp! For more information regarding Gems Camp, visit the Gems Camp page on our website.

Living on campus for Fall 2020?

The Gemstone Honors Program works closely with the Department of Resident Life to coordinate a smooth move-in process for all of our incoming students. More information about housing can be found here.

Students must confirm their enrollment and apply for housing by May 1, 2020. Every new first-year student who desires to live in campus residence halls must complete the 2020-2021 Campus Housing and Dining Agreement by May 1, 2020 to be eligible to live on campus. The housing agreement can be found here by selecting the "Apply for Housing" button on the top right of the page. Missing the May 1 deadline may impact a student's ability to secure on-campus housing.

Specific Fall 2020 move-in instructions will be posted in July.

If you have any questions about any of the above information,
please email us at gems@umd.edu or call us at 301-458-0784!
