CRS provides recreational opportunities that enhance the quality of life for members of the University community. Students can work out at one of the nine campus fitness facilities, plays in intramural leagues and sports clubs, and participate in group fitness or instructional programs.

Nearly 50% of students and more than 25% of faculty and staff come to campus by some means other than alone in a car. The Department of Transportation Services offers products and services such as parking passes, carpooling incentives, bike commuter lockers and showers, and shuttle buses with free Wi-Fi, making it convenient and easy to be green while traveling to, from, and around campus.

Education Abroad provides international, academically-based experiences in support of students' personal, professional and intellectual development. Programs are designed to promote cross cultural competence, disciplinary scholarship and foreign language acquisition, equipping students with the knowledge and skills to effectively engage with local and global communities and become culturally perceptive citizens.

ELMS (Canvas)

Enhancing Learning of Maryland Students (ELMS) is the online environment that supports teaching and learning at the University of Maryland. Student can log in to ELMS with their Directory ID and password to retrieve course readings and materials posted by their instructors.

Emergency and Weather Plans and Alerts

Included here is the campus plan for emergency operations, as well as procedures for addressing campus emergencies. Students can sign up for text message emergency alerts at www.alert.umd.edu. In the event of university delays or closures due to inclement weather, students can find information here, on the homepage of www.umd.edu, or by calling into the "Snow Phone Line" at 301.405.SNOW.

Mental Health Services

Throughout their University experience, students may encounter personal, social, academic, and lifestyle difficulties for which they wish to seek professional help. Mental Health Services offers a variety of resources and confidential services including individual and group counseling, crisis interventions, and medication and referral evaluations. Students may visit during the Health Center clinic's walk-in hours, or may schedule an appointment over the phone.

Maryland Athletics

The University of Maryland is home to the Terrapins, nicknamed the "Terps," and is certified as an NCAA Division I school. The Athletics Department is home to eleven men's teams and fourteen women's teams. Students can purchase tickets for football, men's basketball, and select women's basketball games through www.tickets.umd.edu, and admission to all other sporting events can be gained by showing your University ID card upon entry.

Maryland Traditions

Students can find information on a variety of the University's most cherished traditions, including school songs and colors, athletic and homecoming traditions, and yearly celebrations.

Math Success Program

Conveniently located on North Campus, the Math Success Program offers free walk-in tutoring for Maryland mathematics courses. The Math Success Program also offers paid employment as a Math Coach for students interested in helping their peers with math coursework!

Off-Campus Housing Services supports members of the UM community in making well-informed decisions that enable them to enjoy a positive off-campus living experience. OCH provides an online Housing and Roommate Finder database, as well as resources on topics such as local communities, safety and security, and managing landlord relationships.

The Office of International Services assists more than 3,500 international students with the process of applying to Maryland, handling visa and reporting requirements, and making the most of the academic experience here. OIS also provides information to international students about opportunities to travel and study abroad in the U.S. and overseas.

The Office of Student Conduct resolves allegations of misconduct under the Code of Student Conduct and the Code of Academic Integrity in a manner consistent with core values of fairness, honesty and integrity. The Office of Multi-ethnic Student Education (OMSE), a unit of the Academic Affairs Division of the University of Maryland, offers a variety of services and programs to enhance the learning experience and promote the academic success of undergraduate students, including free, walk-in tutoring in subjects such as Writing, Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, and Economics. OMSE is also an opportunity for paid employment for students meeting qualifications to tutor these subject.

Named after the University mascot, Testudo is a central clearinghouse of online services for students. Students can access information here on class schedules and grades, course descriptions, evaluations, and registration, transcript requests, financial aid services, parking permit applications, and more.

Here students can find information on various academic, athletic, and arts events at the University. There is also a calendar listing free events occurring on campus.

University Career Center

The University Career Center offers career assessments, career planning and job search courses, and appointments with career professionals. For those ready to begin a job or internship search, they have tools like Careers4Terps for 24-hour access to job listings, on-campus-interviewing, and resume referral. The University Career Center helps identify sources for job announcements, assists in job search conduct, critiques resumes, and more. In addition, the Center houses a Resource Room and offers an Internship Seminar and Credentials Service.

University Health Center

The University Health Center offers a number of clinical services such as primary and urgent care, dental health, physical therapy, substance abuse treatment, and more. For non-Urgent Care services, appointments are required. Urgent Care services are available without an appointment for evaluation of urgent medical problems. The After-Hours Nurse Line is available when the University is closed and is free for students at 301.314.9386.

Visual and Performing Arts

The University has a vibrant arts scene, with over a thousand performances, showings, and exhibitions every year. In addition to viewing art in one of the campus Galleries or at the Clarice Smith Performing Arts Center, student can also participate in photography, dance, painting, ceramics, theater, and other artistic endeavors through student organizations and centers such as the Art and Learning Center.

The Writing center

The Writing Center provides opportunities for undergraduate students to improve writing and thinking skills in their academic work, and also in preparation for their respective careers. In a comfortable and supportive atmosphere, trained consultants with a variety of majors assist writers individually at all stages of the composing process. The Center also makes available printed and online materials, as well as workshops, on topics related to writing and teaching writing.
